Resurrection is an epic fantasy game. It's a mix between 3D action fighting game and adventure quest game. 3 warriors will have to join their forces in a quest to defeat a demonic god who hopes to resurrect the dreaded "black dragon" who will devour millions of souls and grant him infinite power. You can chose between Daiko, a sorcerer/paladin, Gau, an all-out warrior and Doménico, a half demon assasin. Gameplay consists of 3d action similar in nature to Rune, with lots of combo moves and spells and different weapons and abilities for each character (like climbing walls, etc.) The game also includes a one-on-one 3d fighting mode. …read more

Imagine a game that combines elements of Rune, Tomb Raider and Tekken. Add a touch of medieval magic, a handful of dark horror atmosphere, one black dragon, a million closed doors, the same number of different colored keys and you have Resurrection - an epic story of three heroes of good and evil. Even the first glance at the menu suggests that we are dealing with a very original piece. In addition to the first – tellingly enough – “Play” item, there is also a “Fight” option. It transports players to a tournament not unlike Tekken or Mortal Kombat. Against the hero, who can be chosen from all three characters from the beginning, progressively higher batches of the dark monk's protectors come forward. However, what was my surprise when, after defeating the first of them, the game politely warned me that I would get to the next round only after completing a certain part of the game itself. All that was left was to leave the tournament in disgrace and plunge into the maelstrom of events that are sweeping the formerly peaceful kingdom of Sargas.

What is the point of the story? Monk Ahivoes no longer wants to meditate in his cell, but to rule the entire kingdom of Sargas. Modesty or humility have never been his strong points, and this cassock-clad villain does not hesitate to walk over corpses in pursuit of his goal. If he succeeds in his endeavours, not a flourishing land will fall into his hands, but a scorched wasteland. In order to ensure victory, he has taken on the hatchling of a dreaded black dragon and intends to feed it the souls of men until it is large enough to subjugate Sargas with it. Various dubious characters have sensed their chance, so the fanatic has no shortage of minions.

However, a heroic trio enters the scene, which does not hesitate to confront evil. Gavo is an elite warrior who doesn't mate with anyone, Daiko is an Amazonian sorceress, seemingly frail but deadly and then there's the dastardly Doménico with razors on her hands. Seven missions await each of them in the medieval-looking Sargas, tailored to their combat specializations and special abilities. The cornerstone of the gameplay, similar to that of Rune, is primarily combat, diversified by a lot of diverse combos. Instead of multiplayer, the game has a gradually unlocking "Fight" mode, where you face increasingly powerful opponents in the arena.

The focus of all missions is fighting enemies. However, this is where the biggest flaw of the entire game comes into play - the swordfights are incredibly long and boring. Imagine a situation where you and Domenicus are walking down a narrow corridor, at the end of which you see a lone soldier. You jump up onto the ceiling and silently creep towards the enemy who hasn't registered you yet. In an unguarded moment, you attack the victim's back and send the poor soldier to the other world with one powerful swing of the bladed arm (the form with the Alien attack is purely coincidental). But what's the matter, two more gunmen ran into the corridor, from whom you can no longer escape to the ceiling. Resurrection: Return of the Black DragonIn an instant you are surrounded and the true man-on-man fight begins. You quickly land a few heavy blows on the first target, but the nice soldier takes a step back and takes a "universal cover" position with his sword across his body. Try as you might, you have no chance of harming him with even the most bizarre combo. A second soldier waits dutifully in the same cover, although he is behind you and hasn't been attacked. What follows is a grueling wait until the swordsmen draw their swords again and an attempt to quickly attack before they can return to cover. Once, twice, fifty times, then a moment of running and another no less lengthy fight - as soon as the magical energy, the only effective counterweapon, runs out, you have no chance. Do you understand what the problem is?

Authors didn't have a bad idea at all - in particular, the control of three different characters on both sides of good and evil will please players bored by the constant monotonous saving of worlds (even committing evil has its own charm). Unfortunately, it can also be seen that the authors did not have a large bank account from which to pay for better programmers, more beta testers, better graphics and level designers, and last but not least, someone who can speak English.
