How to play old DOS games on a modern computer?

We love old games, because they are fun, mostly original a fun to play even today. The only problem with old games is, most of them were created for MS-DOS operating system and they were designed only for 16-bit systems. Old version of windows used to include DOS, so you were able to run these games, but modern Operating Systems (such as Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and Mac OS X) can't run classic games from 80's and 90's. The best way to run dos games is to buy an old computer (486, or even pentium if you're a rich boy :)) and play these games on them. There is however easier way how to run these games on modern PCs by using DOS emulators and we prepared short instructions for each operating system.

The easiest way to play the DOS games is to play online DOS games on our page. Not all games are playable online, so other option is to use DOS emulator and download games you want to your computer.

Instructions for playing DOS games under Windows

  1. Download and install DOSBox, create DOSBox desktop shortcut
  2. Download the game you want and unzip it
  3. Drag and drop the game folder on the desktop icon of DOSBox
  4. The game folder will be mounted as C:\ - just type the name the right .exe file and press enter
(use DIR command in DOSBox to list game files (if the list is big, use "DIR /p"), and use the TAB key to autocomplete the .exe file name.)
