Game review

Project I.G.I. (I'm Going In) is a revolutionary tactical shooter from the year 2000 that places players in the role of a former SAS operative named David Jones on a clandestine mission with the potential to change the fate of the world. The game is renowned for its blend of meticulously crafted outdoor and indoor environments, offering players an unprecedented level of freedom in mission execution.

Jones must infiltrate enemy bases, sabotage terrorist plots, and uncover a conspiracy that reaches the highest echelons of power. With no ability to save the game during missions and limited ammunition, every move and decision is fraught with tension. Players must carefully plan their steps, utilize the element of surprise, and constantly adapt to dynamically changing situations.

Project I.G.I. is a tactical, basically outdoor, first-person stealth action with no save option. The game's only game mode is a single-player campaign of 14 missions, in which the player takes on the role of freelance agent David Jones, who is on the trail of Josef Priboi, an arms dealer. The ultimate goal of the story line is to find and secure the stolen nuclear warhead.

The most common game environment is a military base that needs to be infiltrated, or escape from it. Against them are armed to the teeth soldiers with not dazzling AI, but considerable firepower. Although the "last man standing" approach is allowed, the options for replenishing health are very limited, and the player is therefore motivated to make a careful, even minimalist passage. Stressful music completes the atmosphere.

Infinite terrain is implemented in the game, and from the sixth level onwards, enemies respawn when an alarm is raised. The game contains real weapons such as the AK-47, SVD Dragunov, Desert Eagle or Spas 12. In addition, there are technological gadgets available such as a digital map that shows enemies even behind walls, or a sophisticated telescope. The protagonist moves not only by walking, but also by abseiling and very often by climbing a ladder. These passages are given from the third person point of view. Friendly units rarely appear in the game itself.
