Dune II, now a cult real-time strategy game created by the famous studio Westwood, shared the foundations and core elements of the RTS genre. The game is inspired by the book bestseller by the writer Frank Herbert and takes place on the planet Arrakis (also called Dune because of its sandy and arid surface), on which, as the only planet in the known universe, there is a substance called Melange or Spice. This substance gives its regular users (apart from the characteristic blue coloration of the whites of the eyes) a longer life, strengthens the psyche and threatens strong addiction. And it is for this valuable commodity that three hostile families, the Ordos, the Atreids and the Harkonnens, are fighting. …read more

Game review

An excellent game based on the book by Brian Herbert. The principle, as in any strategy, is to destroy everyone and everything. There are three races to choose from, the Atreides, the Harkonnens and the Ordos. However, the Ords do not appear in the Book. At the end of the game, the Emperor himself joins the fight. The Atreides are basically the good ones, the Harkonnens the evil ones, and the Ordos are the merchants.

The plot is simple. Somewhere in space is a desert asteroid. It has only one meaning, the extraction of spices. He who controls the extraction of spices controls the universe. To study the events around the dune, I recommend reading or watching a film. There was even a Czech actress in it, but I can't remember the name

Until this time, the game is situated. In the First Missions, you just mine spices and lightly arm yourself, but over time you become a desert warrior. in some missions there is almost no spice and in others there are many enemies. At first, it's just what kind of race you play for, but over time, the differences increase. First you get special weapons. I liked the sonic tank from the Atreides, but the others are also worth it. Eventually you get the opportunity to build a palace. Atreides can send malicious units, Fremen, from the palace. The others have a missile capable of destroying half the base.

From the buildings you can choose from many factories for toy cars, tanks, planes and barracks. The most important is, of course, the basic building where other buildings are built. The spaceport is important, where you can buy units at significantly cheaper prices. however, prices often fluctuate, so they need to be monitored. You can put your defense on two types of towers, missile and shooting. Missiles have the disadvantage that they are able to destroy their surroundings, ie themselves. But they have a great range. This is a problem with all missile weapons in the game. Defensive walls are a matter of course, but why build a wall when there can be a tower, right?

You start the game with little soldiers and a couple of toy cars. Gradually you can build stronger vehicles, then tanks and finally special weapons. The Harkonese devastator is famous. You can even build a mobile base, which pays off when a missile hits your head. Infantry is divided into groups or individuals.

Otherwise, I recommend playing and finishing for all races...
