Before you start a match, you should try some practice in a training mode, where you can learn individual moves, different ways to hurt your opponents and other game options. In this mode, you also have an opponent, but he is only there, so you can punch, kick him in any way you want, here you can try all the moves and he won't fight back. If you learn all these options, you can continue to the tournament. You can choose one of three wrestlers (Hulkster - Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and British Bulldog).
