Electronic Arts is a company best known for its famous sports games like NHL Hockey, FIFA Soccer, but they did not forget about less-known sports, such as Cricket 97. Cricket is really not the most popular sport and many don't know the rules, some of us can even confuse it with baseball. These sports really have a few things in common, but they are as same as football and rugby are - not at all. In cricket, there is a pitcher that throws the ball trying to hit wicket. Each wicket consists of three stumps, upright wooden poles that are hammered into the ground, topped with two wooden crosspieces, known as the bails. On the other side, there is a player with bat, who is trying to hit the thrown ball and bat as far as possible, so that the remaining 9 players can chase the ball down on the field. Of course, the rules are little bit more complicated than this short summary, but you get the point. The game offers extensive configuration options, you can choose the length of the game (the number of "overs" that you're gonna play). You can choose from several teams, from different countries, or you can create your own team and then name it, choose players, etc. As always in every EA sports game, even this one offers wide range statistics, when you can see the strengths and weaknesses of each player. This is a classic game from EA 90s, which brought a really nice simulation of cricket to our computer screen.
