The first game of the dangerous Rick was inspired by the movie of Indiana Jones, but the continuation: Rick Dangerous 2 is moving away from the Indy series and tells its own story. At the end of Rick Dangerous, an alien invasion comes to Earth. As Rick Dangerous 2 starts, UFOs land in London. The image shift in the character of Rick Dangerous is evident from the start: the coat is nowhere to be found and the Indiana Jones-style hat from the previous episode is almost symbolically blown off by a laser beam coming from one of the spaceships in the introduction sequence. One UFO lands in Hyde Park, and Rick goes there to settle the score with the aliens. Obviously you play as Rick and you are asked to stop the Fat Guy. He has an evil plan: with the help of alien race to take over the entire Earth. You have to go through several levels (Hyde Park, Ice Caverns, Atomic Forest and Mines), and along the way you have to overcome various obstacles, pitfalls, traps and monsters. Rick can climb ladders and crawl through tight spaces. He is equipped with a laser gun and six little bombs, but can also punch with some effect. The controls are very easy to understand: pressing fire+up shoots the gun, pressing fire+down places a bomb, pressing fire+bottom-left/bottom-right makes Rick slide a bomb along the floor in the specified direction. Rick 2 is a worthy sequel to the first part, although there has been only minor improvements to the graphics, but the principle of games and gameplay was retained. Good fun for the boring afternoon.
