A lightly modified version of the A320 Airbus flight simulator programmed by Rainer Bopf originally for the Amiga and ported to Atari ST and DOS systems. The game was developed for several years in cooperation with the airlines Lufthansa, Jeppesen and Deutche Airbus. The game puts you in the cockpit of a modern Airbus A320 airliner and includes a large part of Western Europe with its 80 airports. In the first phase, the game asks you to configure a flight plan, for which you have to enter a number of details, including a set flight route, etc.
You have to familiarize yourself with different flight procedures, operate the instrument panel and handle different flying situations, whether it is routine flights between European cities or challenging landings in poor weather conditions. The simulator offers different game modes, including free flight, where the player can plan his own route, and a training mode, where he can learn the basics of piloting an Airbus A320.
For its time, the high level of detail in the cockpit, where all instruments and controls are designed to replicate the real environment of the Airbus A320 as faithfully as possible, will impress. Players must respond correctly to various warnings and signals, correctly set up onboard systems and manage the flight plan. The developer Bopf, an active pilot himself, has bet on maximum authenticity and a realistic approach to pre-flight preparation and the flight phase itself, including takeoff and landing.
For flight simulator fans and aviation enthusiasts, A320 Airbus: Edition Europa presents an interesting challenge and an opportunity to immerse yourself in the complex world of civil aviation, all from the comfort of your home.
