The action on the board was watched by the player from a kind of side pseudo 3D view in the great and fast graphics at the time, and the entire game speech laid the foundations for future parts of the video game NBA Live. One interesting thing is that the main stars of their teams already used various special moves to fool the opponent.
I would characterize NBA: Lakers vs. The Celtics as one of the first catchy sports games on PC. Its simplicity and yet great gameplay was wonderfull and many gamers used to spend many hours, even days playing this game. Well, it's the first playable old basketball, predecessor of the famous NBA series. Graphically NBA is very nicely donw, except there could be more details. For example, you can spot some basketball legends such as Michael Jordan only by number on their dress, because all characters looks the same (except height, hair color and jerseys colors). You can choose to playe for one of the 10 NBA teams from the '88-'89 season and you can find a number of famous players. Several star players have their own signature move.
